The struggle to be an All-American girl, is written by Elizabeth Wong. she describe her live in Chinatown in Los Angeles. The author used a lot of dramatic instance to express details, such as when author want to explain the politeness before beginning Chinese class. The author has used some examples to compare America and China.

she described how her mother forced her to go to school and to learn the language of her heritage. Also the difficulty she face in Chinese language and culture. For example, when she talks about the school how the auditorium is smell and dirty, how they start the class with politeness exercises, the students welcome their teachers every day by tape the bell, kowtow and chant. Also, I like her way when she used Chinese word “sing san ho” to describe the situation and what does it mean in English. I like the words she used to describe the story because I learn newand difficult words. For example, painstakingly, mustiness, chant, ideographs and nagging etc. I like how she struggle to be one of the American when she said “At last I was one of you, I wasn’t one of them”. In fact, something that I do not like about the story how she hates Chinese culture, and how she against learning Chinese language I do not like how she embarrassed from her grandmother how she describes her as humor “raunchy”, also her heritage and where she come from. I do not like it because she should be proud of herself, her grandmother, her heritage and where she comes from. Finally, she describes her sadness when she thought that she could be multicultural “sadly, I still am”

The whole article is easy to understand because the author used the examples which more close to our lives. Also she used a lot of academic words to express the process of bing an “all-American girl”, the author make the article have the sense of humor.
